Epona's Sorrow by Lori Simmons
A warrior of heaven, God’s giving hand;
You pierce mortal hearts like no weapon can;
With strength you endure, beside man you stand;
Worn souls you carry cross life’s desert span.
Without sound to hear with wisdom you speak;
In the vast night sky, you fly past the stars;
To dance for Sol, yet no glory you seek;
Fated for service to Venus and Mars.
Then the dark ones came and glass tears you shed;
From wars of love, hatred and sorrow spilled;
Out of Hades’ fire, your thunder fled;
Your heart became stone and its spirit killed.
A beast to lumber is all you remain;
Taunted, in agony, you live in vain.
You pierce mortal hearts like no weapon can;
With strength you endure, beside man you stand;
Worn souls you carry cross life’s desert span.
Without sound to hear with wisdom you speak;
In the vast night sky, you fly past the stars;
To dance for Sol, yet no glory you seek;
Fated for service to Venus and Mars.
Then the dark ones came and glass tears you shed;
From wars of love, hatred and sorrow spilled;
Out of Hades’ fire, your thunder fled;
Your heart became stone and its spirit killed.
A beast to lumber is all you remain;
Taunted, in agony, you live in vain.
